The results can be subtle for clients who do not want a noticeable difference. For example, treating the marionette lines can turn the corners of the mouth upwards, either giving a more dramatic look or simply adding more volume and definition to thin lips.
Dermal fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, which naturally occurs within the body and is found in the deep layers of the dermis. One of its functions is to keep the skin smooth and healthy by retaining water. When we are born, we have lots of hyaluronic acids, and as we age, the enzymes within our body gradually start to disintegrate it. Unfortunately, this is what causes wrinkles to deepen, lips to lose their fullness, cheeks to lose their volume and lines to appear around the nose and mouth.

Dermal fillers are a man-made product containing non-animal substances that, once injected, mimic the body’s natural depleted hyaluronic acid. When introduced to the face, the fillers give the appearance of a plumper, more youthful look and can provide structure to your features.
While there are many different types of dermal filler available on the Internet, some are not FDA-approved. This is why you must always ask your practitioner what products they use and research about them if possible. For your peace of mind, we exclusively use top-brand fillers from the JUVÉDERM® and TEOSYAL® range. These are administered by registered nurses Kate and Mel.
If you are thinking of getting dermal fillers, we do prefer for you to have a consultation with us before your treatment. This allows us to examine your face and determine how much of the product is required.
We will also do a quick health assessment in order to determine if you are suitable for the fillers. The treatment will be provided a week or so to give you time to digest all of the information given during our consultation, ensuring your certainty to proceed.
During your session, you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire and identify any allergies you may have. We will discuss all the contraindications and side effects before we proceed. Before-and-after pictures will likewise be taken for our medical records, which will not be used for advertising unless we have written consent from you.
We will mark certain areas of your face and clean them with an anti-bacterial agent. A topical numbing agent will be applied to the area 15 minutes before the injection so that the procedure becomes as pain-free as possible.
Dermal fillers provide instant results so we may ask you to look into a mirror before the procedure is finished to determine where you would like the remaining filler to be administered. As aesthetic professionals, we can advise where we think it should go but we like to listen to our clients and ask their opinions, too. After all, it is your face we are dealing with, and we want to get the right results for you.
Once the procedure is finished, there may be some swelling, which will go down within a few days. We will provide you with a leaflet of dos and don’ts, although there is very little downtime with this procedure. Most people return to work the next day with nobody noticing you have had a cosmetic procedure done.
